- To encourage creative writing.
- To raise awareness for literacy issues in our world.
- To provide resources so that you and I together can create change.
FACT: 'Economic, social and cultural factors keep some 121 million children, especially girls, from attending school. Faced with difficult choices, parents often take girls out of school to care for younger siblings, help with household chores or work outside the home to contribute to family income. In the world's least developed countries, only 14 percent of secondary school enrollment is female.' ~Care
FACT: 'For millions of children across the world, access to a quality education is a luxury beyond their reach. Every child should be able to benefit from education, but around 113 million children are denied this fundamental right. The majority is female.' ~UNICEF
Somewhere there is a little girl in the world that is denied an education simply because she is a little girl. She will never know how it feels to have a teacher believe in her and give her that extra bit of attention that makes her feel she has the power to conquer anything. Her will is not given a chance to exceed its tiny limits. She will not experience a far away land that is written in words and dream that she is the main character falling in love or taking a nation by storm. Without an education or learning to read, her soul will not thirst for adventure nor be able to have hope.
